Maidaan Box Office: Ajay Devgn starrer has a heartbreaking drop on Monday

After opening to very low numbers, Maidaan did put some sort of a fight and on Sunday, Rs. 6.52 crores came in. This was a bit of an improvement over what the film had managed on Saturday when Rs. 5.65 crores had been collected. However, the signs were there that a similar momentum won’t quite continue on Monday.

In fact, what it needed was that Monday stays really good and ideally, over the Rs. 4 crores mark. Actually, to say ideally is also “in this situation particularly” since the start was low. Otherwise, the real ideal number would at least be Rs. 7-8 crores and that could have been possible had the film opened around Rs. 15 crores mark, which would have suited its credentials and especially content that has been universally appreciated. Nonetheless, the film didn’t come close to even the lower end of the expectation as barely Rs. 1.20 crores came in, which was really heartbreaking. Clearly, the critical acclaim as well as positive word of mouth just didn’t travel at all.

With 23.42 crores in its kitty so far, what this Ajay Devgn starrer can best look for now is hang in there for next one month and keep collecting something at least on a day by day basis. The film has just not worked theatrically so far and starting with continued delays, there are many other factors that went against it. Hopefully, audiences will warm up to the film when it arrives on OTT in a couple of months from now.
