Madhuri Dixit explains how she went from ‘a no to a yes’ for the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

Only a few actresses in the world can captivate audiences with their dance, quite like Madhuri Dixit. From her delightful debut to her powerful roles in web series, her inspiring career spans decades now. However, despite her love for dancing, we hear that the makers of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa had to convince the ‘Dhak Dhak Girl’ to be a part of the show and it also took a trip across the globe. What most people didn’t know was that her road to becoming the show’s most sensational judge was a tale of persuasion, hesitation, and a pivotal trip to the land of stars, California.

Madhuri Dixit recently revealed on Kiska Brand Bajega hosted by Aditya Bhat that, at first she declined the opportunity to be a judge on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. However, with persistence, Madhuri was convinced to go to Los Angeles to see the American version of the show, Dancing With the Stars live. And after watching the show live, she was sold on the idea. She said, “I loved it,” when asked again about being a part of the show. “Yes, maybe this is a great idea.”

Madhuri Dixit’s journey from being hesitant about the show to a captivating judge is a true testament to witnessing passion in action. For the unversed, Madhuri Dixit has been a judge of the show for four consecutive seasons from four to seven, which was from 2010 to 2014 with celebrities like choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’Souza, filmmaker Karan Johar, popular reality show judge Malaika Arora, among others. The actress also made a comeback as a judge in the tenth season along with Nora Fatehi and Karan.

Speaking of her other professional commitments, Madhuri Dixit was last seen in the web-series The Fame Game which premiered on Netflix in 2022 and later, in the Prime Video Original film Maja Ma in October 2022.
