The trailer of Khichdi 2 was launched amid laughter and madness in a multiplex in Mumbai by Supriya Pathak Kapoor, J D Majethia, Rajeev Mehta, Anang Desai, Vandana Pathak, Kirti Kulhari and director Aatish Kapadia. The event was commenced by Kiku Sharda and he raised laughs as he joked about Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki, the recent release 12th Fail and also Sunny Deol’s Gadar.
Kiku Sharda began by saying, “You all must be wondering that ‘mera khichdi se kya lena dena?’. You are right. Main kachori, samosa aur pizza waala aadmi hoon! Mera Khichdi se kya lena dena? Lekin kab Khichdi itni pyaar ho aur itni masaledaar, toh fir Khichdi banti hai.”
He then did a wordplay by replacing ‘dhang ki’ with Dunki, SRK’s upcoming release. Kiku joked, “Bulane ke liye toh hum Shah Rukh Khan ji ko bhi bula le. Par woh yahaan pe aake ‘Dunki’ baatein karenge! Aur iss parivaar ko ‘Dunki’ baatein sunne ki bilkul aadat nahin hai!”
He continued, “Bulane ke liye hum 12th Fail waalon ko bhi bula le. Lekin jab pehle se yeh 5th fail hamare paas maujood hai, toh 12th Fail ko kyun takleef deni?”
Finally, Kiku Sharda quipped, “If we want, we could have called Sunny paaji as well. Par yahan ukhaadne ke liye hand pump bhi nahin hai. Yahaan aake woh kya hi ukhaad lenge! Lekin yeh parivaar aapka dimaag zaroor ukhaad lega!”
Director Aatish Kapadia was later asked about the spoof of films done even in the teaser. The director replied, “This spoof is not in the film. We make a film but later, the marketing and promo teams join in. The promo team, comprising Bunty and Aman, came up with this brainchild.”
Khichdi 2 releases in cinemas on November 17 and is based on the iconic TV show of the same name. The first part, Khichdi, was released in cinemas in 2010 and was an average grosser. The sequel, Khichdi 2, also stars Scam 2020 star Pratik Gandhi in a cameo.
