Kareena Kapoor Khan and Atul Agnihotri pen heartfelt note on the demise of Bodyguard filmmaker Siddique

A day ago, the Malayalam industry woke up to the shocking news of the demise of filmmaker Siddique, who has given the industry some of its biggest blockbusters, that have also been remade in other languages. The filmmaker is expected to have suffered a cardiac arrest on August 7 and is said to have passed away on August 8. Amid many celebs, who paid tribute to the director, was also Kareena Kapoor Khan. For the unversed, the actress has worked with the filmmaker in the Hindi remake of Bodyguard (2011), co-starring Salman Khan.

While many Malayalam celebrities took to social media to share their heartfelt condolences to Siddiqui’s family, Kareena Kapoor Khan too took to the platform and also dedicated a special message to the filmmaker. Along with sharing a monochrome photo of Siddique, she wrote on her Instagram story, “Will always remember you like this… with a smile. <3 You will be missed Siddiqui Sir.”

Along with her, filmmaker and producer Atul Agnihotri, who produced the movie, also penned a message saying, “Rest in peace writer/director Siddiqui Sir. Will always treasure the memorable journey we had on Bodyguard. God bless your divine soul” and ended the note with a folded hands emoji.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Siddique was suffering from several ailments and was undergoing treatment for the same in Kochi. On Monday, he reportedly suffered a heart attack on Monday. He was expected to be in critical condition due to weakening of his lungs and heart and was kept in ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) for helping him improve his condition but he passed away on Tuesday at 9:13 pm.

Speaking about his film with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bodyguard was a remake of the 2010 Malayalam film by the same name. While the South version featured Dileep and Nayanthara in lead roles, the Hindi version had Salman Khan and Kareena essaying the same characters.
