Karan Johar marked this year’s International Men’s Day with a heartfelt tribute to men who champion equality and feminism. The filmmaker took to Instagram to share a poignant scene from his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, featuring Ranveer Singh and Tota Roy Chowdhury, stating that talent and humanity transcend gender.
A Dance that Breaks Norms
In the shared clip, Ranveer Singh, as Rocky, performs a mesmerizing dance to ‘Dola Re Dola’ alongside Tota Roy Chowdhury, who plays Alia Bhatt’s father in the film. The scene, celebrated for its bold take on traditional gender norms, has become a cultural touchstone since the film’s release.
Accompanying the video, Johar wrote: “Hunar ka koi gender nahi hota. Today is dedicated to the real MVPs of our society – the men. But not just any (and definitely not EVERY) man… today is for the men who champion feminism. The ones who uplift humanity by advocating equity, equality, and a more compassionate society for women and for everyone who just dares to be their true self.”
Johar encouraged men to embrace their authentic selves, whether dancing like Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai or expressing vulnerability, advocating for a more compassionate and equal society
