Karan Johar opens up on working with Emraan Hashmi for Showtime; says, “I promise you, he said he’s not a good kisser, he’s a great kisser”

Disney+ Hotstar and Dharmatic Entertainment unveil the trailer of their much awaited series, Showtime. The money, the business, the glamour, the relationships, the lifestyle, the inside scoop on all of Bollywood’s best-kept secrets, Showtime traces the world of the entertainment industry with nepotism at its backdrop. “Nepotism ke mukhaute ke picche, akhar mein har outsider, insider banna chahta hai,” that’s how we are introduced to this world which is ruled by Emraan Hashmi and Mahima Makwana in lead along with Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Shriya Saran, Vishal Vashishtha, Neeraj Madhav, Vijay Raaz and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles.

The entire team came together to attend the trailer launch of the show, which was held with much fanfare on February 13 in Mumbai. Producer Karan Johar too was part of the event and briefly interacted with the audience about the upcoming web-series and what they can expect from it. During this media interaction at the launch, Karan Johar shared his happiness on working with Emraan Hashmi and added, “As far as Emraan, firstly, it was my desire to be a dashing, gorgeous, good looking, good kisser as a producer. I haven’t matched any of those four qualities that Emraan has in abundance. I promise you, he said he’s not a good kisser, he’s a great kisser. I’m a terrible kisser.”

The trailer features a glimpse of the characters wherein Emraan Hashmi is expected to play the role of ‘Baadshah’ of Bollywood who is not only popular as a star but is also a producer. With Mahima Makwana as an entertainment journalist, it features Rajeev Khandelwal as a superstar too.

Created by Sumit Roy, the showrunner is Mihir Desai who has also directed the show along with Archit Kumar. The screenplay is written by Sumit Roy, Mithun Gangopadhyay and Lara Chandni while the dialogues are written by Jehan Handa and Karan Shrikant Sharma. Showtime will be releasing on March 8, 2024, only on Disney+ Hotstar.
