On September 22, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar took to social media to mark Daughter’s Day with a touching video of his children, Yash and Roohi. Johar’s post not only celebrated daughters but also highlighted the importance of gender equality and inclusivity.
A Heartfelt Tribute to Gender Equality
In his Instagram post, Karan Johar shared a video featuring Yash and Roohi, showcasing the joy and love that his children bring to his life. The video, which also includes moments celebrating both sons and daughters, was accompanied by a reflective caption. Johar wrote, “Equality…. Something I believe in very strongly…. and something that has been inculcated in me by my progressive and liberal mother… my father too was a proud feminist… he may not have been able to completely comprehend or articulate the phenomena of empowerment but his actions more than reiterated his core beliefs…”
Embracing Progressive Values in Parenting
Johar’s post expressed his commitment to gender equality, a value he attributes to his upbringing. He continued, “Have at a tiny age tried to bring that value system as a parent! We all wear pink! We all wear blue! We tie each other Rakhi on the auspicious Raksha Bandhan day and we celebrate sons and daughters on every day … we try… best any parent can do… but baby steps can make full grown morality changes in our emotional eco system…. Here’s to compassion and to human empathy!”

Speaking of the professional front, KJo’s last directorial venture was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which was released last year. He is currently awaiting the release of Jigra and Devara, both backed by his production banner. Besides this, he will also host the Indian adaptation of The Traitors, which will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video. In addition to this, he, reportedly, is all set to direct an OTT show for Netflix.
