Kangana Ranaut reveals she was offered roles in Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Bliing, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan: “I created my own existence in the industry”

Kangana Ranaut, known for her candidness and strong opinions, recently shared details about her career choices in a new interview. The actress revealed that she was considered for several high-profile films over the past decade, including projects starring some of Bollywood’s biggest names.  In a conversation on Aap Ki Adalat, Kangana mentioned that she had been approached for roles in major films alongside superstars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar.

For instance, she disclosed that she was offered a part in Salman Khan’s blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan and was also approached for Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. Similarly, she was considered for a role in Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Bliing. Kangana chose to decline these offers.

Reflecting on her decision, Kangana stated, “As a female actor, I created my existence in the industry. Nobody wants to make a movie on an old woman who was thrice our Prime Minister.”

Kangana recounted her early struggles, particularly in 2006 when she found securing roles, even supporting ones difficult. It was only after the success of Queen in 2014 that her career took a significant turn. Offers began to pour in, but Kangana was selective. She elaborated on this point, “When Queen became a success, offers came. I felt I have got a separate opportunity. Like Vyjayantimala, Sridevi used to do movies on their own.” Kangana emphasized.

Her relationship with the industry’s leading men is one of mutual respect, but also one where she recognizes the limitations that might come with working on their projects. “Will Aamir Khan allow me to give the best performance? Salman is a larger-than-life star. Temptations… they’re giants of the industry. Salman is my dear friend, Aamir so nice,” she remarked.

Kangana also touched upon another missed opportunity in her career—the role of a journalist in Sanju, the biopic of Sanjay Dutt, which ultimately went to Anushka Sharma.

As Kangana gears up for the release of Emergency, a film where she not only stars but also directs. The film is slated for a September 6 release but is yet to receive CBFC clearance.
