The Nag Ashwin directed Kalki 2898 AD starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone has embarked on an extraordinary start at the global box office. As per early estimates, the film broke all records by taking a start of Rs. 180 crores globally, finding itself the third spot in the top opening day of all time for an Indian Film.
Kalki 2898 AD has collected Rs. 115 crores in India and Rs. 65 crores in the International markets, taking the total to Rs. 180 crores. One must note that this total includes the amount earned by the film from US Premieres. Kalki 2898 AD is now targeting a global opening weekend around the Rs. 400 crore mark (four day weekend), and is set to emerge as one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
The trend from Monday and the jumps in the second weekend globally will decide the final lifetime of this Nag Ashwin film, but the early talks are extremely positive among the target audience, despite some complaints about the pacing in the first half.
Kalki 2898 AD is showing good hold in collections on the second day too, which indicates the scope for it to have a steady theatrical run at the box office.
