Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has always been aware of the substantial legacy she carries. As the daughter of renowned filmmaker Boney Kapoor and the late actress Sridevi, Janhvi entered Bollywood with the understanding that she had big shoes to fill, especially considering the untimely demise of her mother just months before her debut.
In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Janhvi shared insights into her mother’s advice and the challenges associated with her debut. She shared, “My mother would have given me more advice than she did, especially leading up to my first film. Until then, our discussions about movies were limited to my observations of her reactions to films we watched together as a family. When I expressed my interest in filmmaking, she emphasised that I should be prepared for inevitable comparisons between my debut and her extensive filmography—something she considered inherently unfair.”
According to Janhvi, Sridevi stressed the importance of authenticity, encouraging her to experience emotions organically and work diligently. The iconic actress instilled in her daughter the mantra of “no pain, no gain,” highlighting the dedication required in the film industry.
Despite the challenges, Janhvi Kapoor is determined to navigate her career with authenticity and diligence, staying true to the principles instilled by her mother. As she continues to make her mark in Bollywood, Janhvi strives to carve her own path while respecting and honouring the indelible legacy left by her parents.
