The press conference of IIFA Awards 2024 was held at a five-star hotel in Mumbai and was graced by stalwarts like Karan Johar, Rana Daggubati, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Abhishek Banerjee. But the one who took the cake undoubtedly was superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan came on stage and praised Abhishek Banerjee for his performance in the recently released film, Stree 2, “So good to see you live after watching your wonderful film. I have been waiting to call you.”
Then talking about the award ceremony and the actors who will perform, SRK informed, “There’s Shahid Kapoor. Vicky Kaushal is going to perform and so are Jahnvi Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and above all, the most wonderful Rekha ji would also be there. Hence, for me, it’s a great honour and privilege.”
When Karan Johar asked him about his association with IIFA, SRK joked, “Itni taarif kar rahe ho par bulaya toh ek hi baar tha! (Pointing at KJo) Tu sab likh ke leke aaya hai.”
He then clarified, “I am joking. Ab clarify karna padta hai ki joke kar rahe hai!”
He continued, “I would always love to come but due to some reason or the other, I was working and hence couldn’t make it.”
Shah Rukh Khan then again joked, “Aap Borivali mein awards kar lo ya Film City mein kar lo jaise baaki log karte hai.”

He added, “But then IIFA always thinks big. And now, with the inclusion of Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema, I think mashallah this is more Indian than it has ever been before.”
Shah Rukh Khan then requested to come for rehearsals. He revealed, “Karan has told me that he will rehearse for hosting. He’ll do it on Zoom!” He further told the filmmaker laughingly, “Picturein bhi bana, mere bhai. Kitna host karega!”
Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar then called Rana Daggubati. Earlier, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Abhishek Banerjee had touched their own feet to raise laughs. On this, Rana Daggubati touched the feet of both Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar and said, “We are fully South Indian. That’s how we do it!”
The IIFA Awards 2024 will be held between September 27 and 29 at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi UAE.
