Filmmaker Karan Johar is set to weave a romantic comedy, featuring the budding actors Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. Recently, additional details about the project surfaced, sharing that the film will follow a direct-to-digital release strategy, and Shauna Gautam will be at the helm as the director.
On Sunday, January 21, Karan Johar took to Instagram Stories to officially announce the initiation of Shauna Gautam’s directorial journey. A photo shared by Karan showed Shauna holding a clapperboard, along with the logo of Karan’s production house, Dharmatic Entertainment, and Netflix, the streaming platform that will host the film. In the accompanying caption, Karan Johar showered his best wishes on Shauna Gautam as she stepped into her role as a director, stating, “All my love and blessings to you @shaunagautam… day 1 of your directorial debut… a big day! A memory forever.”
The romantic comedy is already gaining attention due to the involvement of star kids Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. It was earlier reported, actor Suniel Shetty had also joined the cast. A source close to the project told ETimes, “Suniel plays an integral part in the movie, and his character is sure to add an interesting dimension to the story.”
Directed by Shauna Gautam, who makes her directorial debut with this film, the romantic comedy promises to be a captivating tale with an unexpected charm. Gautam previously honed her skills as an assistant director on Bollywood blockbusters like Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani and Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju.
