Hrithik Roshan’s sister Sunaina Roshan reveals how her family stood together during Hrithik’s divorce and Rakesh Roshan’s Cancer battle: “We are fighters”

After more than 13 years of marriage, interior designer Sussanne Khan and actor Hrithik Roshan formally divorced in 2014. Sussanne Khan has been dating actor Arslan Goni for some time, while Hrithik Roshan is currently dating singer-actor Saba Azad. Recently, in an interview with Mid-day, Hrithik’s sister Sunaina Roshan was asked about overcoming adversity, including her father Rakesh Roshan’s battle with cancer and her brother Hrithik’s divorce.

She talked candidly about how Hrithik and Rakesh overcame obstacles, thanks to their close-knit family. Sunaina Roshan said, “We are fighters. We give each other strength in our own ways. I’ve seen strength from my mom, my dad, and my brother. And for me, the fact that I could survive all this makes me believe that life is still beautiful, and I want to live it.”

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan chose to keep the details of their separation private while co-parenting their two sons, Hrehaan (born in 2006) and Hridhaan (born in 2008). Their marriage, which happened in December 2000, ended in divorce in 2014. Despite their separation, they are often seen together at events and gatherings, maintaining a supportive co-parenting relationship.

In 2018, Rakesh Roshan, the filmmaker, was diagnosed with throat cancer. He claimed that being “mentally” strong had helped him heal in a 2019 interview with ETimes.

He had said, “Cigarettes have become bygones for me, but I still take two pegs almost every evening. It’s not allowed but I feel mentally fit – and that’s all that matters isn’t it? My latest PET scan says I am fine… I knew I had cancer even before I went to test for it… I don’t know why but I had a gut feeling that such an obstinate blister can only be cancer. I told my gut feeling even to the doctor.”
