Himani Shivpuri says #MeToo accused Alok Nath was “Sanskari” only when sober; speaks about his “Jekyll and Hyde” personality

Veteran Bollywood actress Himani Shivpuri has shared startling insights about #MeToo accused actor Alok Nath. In a recent appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast, Shivpuri discussed Nath’s erratic behavior related to his alcoholism and how it impacted his professional interactions.

Alok Nath’s Behavior Revealed
Himani Shivpuri, who worked with Alok Nath on several projects, including the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun, described Nath’s personality as drastically different when he was under the influence of alcohol. She recounted, “I have done a lot of work with him in the past and the thing with him is that when he is not drinking, then he is sanskari. His personality was like that of Jekyll and Hyde.”

Shivpuri elaborated on a specific incident she witnessed during their travel for an award show. Nath, in an inebriated state, created a disturbance, prompting Shivpuri and Nath’s wife to intervene. She noted, “He was drunk and out of control while we were travelling for an award show, and his wife kept asking him to be calm. Even I asked him to get a grip on himself or else he would be deplaned. He was deplaned once in the past because of his behaviour.”
Professional Conduct and Personal Issues
According to Shivpuri, Nath maintained a professional demeanor on set, but his behavior changed significantly as the evening progressed. She recalled, “He would be very quiet and professional on sets, but as the clock struck 8, he would turn into a different person.” This duality in his behavior, influenced by his drinking habits, painted a troubling picture of his personality in both professional and personal settings.
Alok Nath and the #MeToo Movement
Alok Nath, who gained fame for his ‘fatherly’ roles in Bollywood films and television shows, became embroiled in the #MeToo movement in 2018-19. The allegations against him began when writer-producer Vinta Nanda accused him of sexual assault over nearly two decades. Subsequently, actresses Navneet Nishan and Sandhya Mridul, among others, also came forward with similar claims. A crew member from Hum Saath Saath Hain also accused Nath of harassment.
