It was a tough phase for Bollywood in 2022 as only a handful of films turned out to be hits with a large number of them declared flops. But 2023 has turned out to be much better for the industry, especially in recent times with films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Gadar 2 and OMG 2.
Among these films, Gadar 2 has literally taken the box office by storm. Directed by Anil Sharma, the movie opened with a bang by amassing Rs. 40.10 crores on its first day itself. The film followed it up with Rs. 43.08 crores and Rs. 51.70 crores on Saturday and Sunday respectively. This brings its three-day total to a mammoth Rs. 133.88 crores.
Hence, it has become the second highest opening weekend score for 2023. The highest opening weekend number this year was achieved by the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan, which earned a huge number of Rs. 280.75 crores in that period. It looks like it will be very difficult to overtake this score. Maybe SRK himself might challenge that score through his next big release Jawan.
The next three films in the list of highest opening weekend of 2023 include Adipurush, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan with Rs. 103 crores, Rs. 70.64 crores and Rs. 68.17 crores respectively.
