Gadar 2 Box Office: Film beats Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion; emerges as the all-time highest second weekend grosser

It isn’t every day that a Bollywood release manages to captivate the critic and audience alike, but in the case of Gadar 2, the film has been hailed as a blockbuster that is sure to be remembered in the annals of history. Directed by Anil Sharma starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel the film which takes the story of the 2001 release Gadar – Ek Prem Katha forward, released a while back, and since then the film has proved to be unstoppable at the box office. After registering a money spinning opening day and opening weekend the business of the film, which sailed past the Rs. 100 cr and Rs. 200 cr mark maintained it momentum through its first week. Now on its second weekend running, Gadar 2 has seen yet another spurt in collections.

In this box office report, we look at the second weekend collections of Gadar 2 while comparing the same to previous releases. Collecting Rs. 90.47 cr on its second weekend, the Anil Sharma directorial has emerged as the all-time highest second weekend grosser. In fact, the business of the film has surpassed the second weekend business of previously released big-ticket entertainers like Baahubali 2- The Conclusion which collected Rs. 80.75 cr, Dangal which collected Rs. 73.70 cr, The Kashmir Files which collected Rs. 70.15 cr, Pathaan which collected Rs. 65.75 cr, Sanju which collected Rs. 63.15 cr, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan which had collected Rs. 56.10 cr.

While the business of the film has proved to be unstoppable, the film has continued to run even in its second week. In fact, despite newer releases hitting screens Gadar 2 has maintained its steak at the box office, as the audiences’ first choice in theatres. Given this fact and the continuing frenzy for Gadar 2, trade predictions state that the business of the film will continue to see the collections pouring in over its second week.
