The Siddharth Anand directed Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in the lead went on an overdrive on the second day taking benefit of the Republic Day Holiday. According to early estimates, the aerial action thriller has collected in the range of Rs. 40 to 42 crores on the second day, going up by 70%.
The big jump is a result of strong word of mouth in the audience, coupled with the Republic Day Holiday. The film has gone up all across the board, with the top 3 national chains showing a 70% jump, and the single screens going on overdrive with crazy jumps of 200%. The two-day total of Fighter stands at Rs. 65 crores and the movie is now in a lot better position than it was a day before.
Some usual holds on Saturday and Sunday will push the weekend business to Rs. 125 crores and then it’s all about the gains the film makes from weekend to weekend. The word of mouth is positive, reflecting in the trend.
Fighter’s collection on Republic Day can be a little higher than what’s projected above as the mass belts usually go berserk on a national holiday and those numbers come in only in the morning. But all in all, the jump of 70% on day 2 is earth-shattering to say the least for a film that opened in the mid 20s.
