EXCLUSIVE: Vicky Kaushal doesn’t hesitate to seek advice on scripts from Katrina Kaif and Sham Kaushal: “My dad is updated about which film is earning how much money at the box office”

Vicky Kaushal, currently riding high on the success of his latest film Bad Newz, is no stranger to the ebbs and flows of Bollywood.  But behind his success lies a strong support system, rooted in his family—a family where films, scripts, and box office numbers are regular dinner table conversations. For Vicky, seeking career advice doesn’t require looking far. Married to Bollywood star Katrina Kaif, and being the son of the action director Sham Kaushal, the actor finds himself surrounded by industry veterans who bring a wealth of experience and insight. Vicky’s younger brother, Sunny Kaushal, is also an actor, adding to the synergy within the Kaushal household.

In a recent exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vicky opened up about how he navigates his career choices, especially when it comes to selecting scripts and analyzing box office performance. When it comes to evaluating scripts, Vicky doesn’t hesitate to turn to his father first. “If it is script-related, I will first go to my dad and then Katrina,” he revealed.

Sham Kaushal’s vast experience in the film industry, particularly as an action director, gives him a unique perspective on storytelling and character development.  Vicky shared that his father keeps himself well-informed about the financial performance of films, particularly those featuring Vicky. “Post the film’s release, I go to my dad because he understands trade and box office. He is updated about which film is earning how much money at the box office,” Vicky explained.

The actor recounted how his father often shares updates on box office earnings, sometimes even surprising Vicky with the details. “Sometimes, he will tell me, ‘Pata hai itna ho gaya hai,’ and I would go like, ‘Accha itna kar liya?’” Vicky said. “He would know when a single ticket also gets sold,” Vicky remarked.

Vicky also values the input of his wife, Katrina Kaif, who herself is a seasoned actor with a successful career spanning nearly two decades. Katrina’s experience and understanding of the industry make her an important sounding board for Vicky, especially when it comes to the creative aspects of his work.

On the work front, Vicky Kaushal is also gearing up for his next big release, Chhava. The film, based on the life of the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, is one of the most anticipated projects of his career. He is also set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.
