Taran Adarsh discussed the future of stardom in Bollywood, particularly how actors can achieve lasting recognition without relying on franchises. He emphasized that delivering a hit film, independent of franchise backing, will be the true measure of stardom for the upcoming generation of actors.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Taran Adarsh highlighted Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in Animal, a non-franchise film, as a prime example. He said, “Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal was not a franchise, and the forthcoming films Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War and Ramayana both the films are not franchise. Ramayana part two would be coming in later but this is the first part. I think to deliver those kinds of numbers in a film which is not a franchise, purely on the bases of the script on the bases of your talent on the director’s vision.”
Adarsh praised director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, calling him a “genius,” and expressed his belief that Animal proved that standalone films could succeed in today’s industry. He said, “Sandeep Reddy Vangna is a genius. I think Ranbir Kapoor is there. He has delivered those numbers.”
He concluded with the hope that Bollywood would see more films like these, driven by strong scripts and talented teams, rather than relying solely on franchise power. “I hope that going forward we have a lot of standalone films without the backing or without the crutches of franchise power,” he stated.
