EXCLUSIVE: Manoj Bajpayee says Amitabh Bachchan rehearses quite diligently; recalls latter catching him for changing lines in a scene

Bollywood Hungama’s Actors Roundtable 2023 is back. This year, with renowned actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Arshad Warsi along with rising stars such as Arjun Mathur, Aditya Roy Kapur and Aparshakti Khurana. During the candid chat around improvisation, Manoj Bajpayee recalled improvising while shooting with Amitabh Bachchan and what happened next, left everyone in splits!

It all happened when the panel was discussing the benefits of rehearsing, and Manoj recalled, “Amit ji rehearses quite diligently. I’ve done three or four films with him. You cannot mess with his cues. A couple of times, I improvised slightly. He says, ‘Suniye, aapne kuch badla hai kya (Listen, have you changed something)?’ I said, ‘Pata nahi sir (I don’t know)’.”

Bajpayee further added, “He said, ‘Mujhe lagta hai aapne kuch badla hai (I think you’ve changed something)’. He called someone over and said, ‘Bhai scene leke aaiye (Let’s check the scene again)’. With Amit ji you can’t (improvise). One thing I’ve learned from him is that he really likes to rehearse… You do whatever you want but give him the cue.”

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that Bajpayee and Bachchan have worked together for 4 Bollywood films, Aks (2001), Aarakshan (2011), Satyagraha (2013), and Sarkar 3.

Speaking of the professional front, Big B is currently seen in the latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Meanwhile, his next film project is Section 84, among others. On the other hand, Manoj Bajpayee’s film Joram released in theatres recently on December 7.
