EXCLUSIVE: Kanikka Kapur on Season 3 of ImMature, “For the 1st time, the story will be told from my character’s point of view”

The Season 3 of the web show ImMature started streaming on Amazon Prime Video since yesterday. Kanikka Kapur, who plays Chhaya, is more excited for this season for a special reason. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, she said, “I am super excited for this season because for the first time in the history of ImMature the story is going to be told from Chhaya’s point of view; earlier seasons were from Dhruv’s (Omkar Kulkarni) point of view. I hope the audience connects with season 3 as well, just like they connected to season 1 and 2.”

Sharing her experience of shooting the season where she has a major role, she said, “It’s been great. It’s been absolutely wonderful. I am so glad to be back for season 3. Firstly, it’s so much fun to shoot with the team of TVF (The Viral Fever). It’s one of my favourite teams to shoot with because the set doesn’t feel like a set. We all jam together, discuss the scenes and they also take our inputs, which is very flexible. It’s great to be back. Every time I shoot for this show, I get to wear my school uniform. It always takes me back to my school days and I love reliving those memories.”

Created by Sameer Saxena, the Season 3 of ImMature takes place when the characters are in the 11th standard. Apart from Kanikka and Omkar, it also stars Chinmay Chandraunshuh, Rashmi Agdekar, Naman Jain, Himika Bose, among others.

Kanikka feels that the show will be relatable to people of similar age group, just like how it was for her. “It’s a school show and we all have been to a school,” she said. “Plus, she is falling in love for the first time in this season, which I am sure we all have experienced. Also, in my school there were people like Chhaya. I took their traits while putting in my character while playing it.”

When it comes to acting, Kanikka remembers an advice given by the prolific Neeraj Kabi and she tries to follow it. She said, “Neeraj Kabi sir had once said in a workshop that as an actor you should shop for life. What that means is that one should experience as much as possible in life. For example, as Kanikka, I don’t like to do party. But I feel once in a while you should move out of your comfort zone and go attend a party because it’s important for you to have that experience to know what happens in a party and observe other people. That is what helped me play my character.”

One always comes across challenges while shooting any project. But during the shoot of this season, Kanikka had a different type of challenge, which came unexpectedly. “Before this (shoot), I was shooting for a project in Banaras and unfortunately, because of having contaminated water, my health had taken a bad turn during the shoot of this season. It was so bad that I couldn’t have outside food at all. But in this season, we are eating weird things like cola maggi, gola and a lot of other things. So I was pretending to eat but I could not really eat anything. This was the most challenging part for me. I hope it looked believable,” she said.

In the recent past, Kanikka was also seen in the show College Romance and Rajshri Productions’ Dono, where she played the pivotal role of Rajveer Deol’s love interest.
