Exclusive: It’s Shah Rukh Khan v/s Shah Rukh Khan as after Pathaan’s Rs 500 Crore Club and Jawan’s Rs. 600 Crore Club, is Rs. 700 Crore Club next with Dunki?

Shah Rukh Khan has done that, in style, and that too twice over in the same year. He first opened the Rs. 500 Crore Club for a Bollywood film with Pathaan back in January. Now merely eight months after the release of his super entertainer action thriller, he has gone one step (or shall I say, 100 crores?) ahead and opened the Rs. 600 Crore Club with Jawan.

Yes, it has happened indeed. The superstar has hit back in the biggest way possible and has been primarily competing with himself when it comes to delivering huge grossers. Oh yes, there was Gadar 2 to contend with as well which actually broke the record of Pathaan when it came to the Hindi version. However, Jawan has gone miles ahead of that as well in this extended weekend and while the Hindi version is anyways the biggest of them all at over Rs. 545 crores, it’s the all-language collections, which is simply mind-blowing.

Considering the fact that over Rs. 60 crores have come from the Telugu and Tamil versions, Jawan has rocketed to a score of over Rs. 600 crores, which is simply unbelievable. Something like this has never happened before for a Hindi film and the only other two films which have netted these sort of mindboggling numbers are Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and KGF: Chapter 2. Both these movies were huge in Hindi and that ensured that coupled with the original south versions, the numbers just turned out to be the hugest ever.

Well, Jawan is making sure that a core Bollywood ends up being a trend setter as well. With around Rs. 615 crores in its kitty already and a lifetime score of around Rs. 675 crores in the making for Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan is now passing the baton to his next big release, Dunki. The Rajkumar Hirani film releases before the Christmas weekend and then would be aiming to make the most of the holiday season by passing through the big national holidays around the New Year eve and earn further moolah.

Is he thinking Rs. 700 Crore Club? Well, he may well be, though the arrival of Salaar alongside it could well be a spanner in his plans. Had there been no competition then one could well have been aiming for higher records. But then to contend with another big budget action film made for the big screen would mean a record journey may get difficult. That said, a huge number is certainly on the cards and an entry into the Rs. 500 Crore Club would be the bare minimum requirement for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Happy days are fairly and squarely back for Bollywood and with Salman Khan bringing his Tiger 3 this Diwali, rest assured big bucks would continue to flow.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
