EXCLUSIVE: Hamare Baarah actress Ankita Dwivedi reacts as court stays release on the film once again; says, “I feel disheartened”

Hamare Baraah which has found itself in the midst of a controversy has once again faced legal obstacles with a stay on its release. On Thursday, June 13, the apex court called the film’s teaser “offensive” and announced that its release must be halted for now. While the Supreme Court too has imposed a stay on the film’s release, the actors have shared their disappointment over the recent judgement.

Reacting to the same, Anktia said, “I feel disheartened at the moment, and at the same time I feel the people who are filing petitions without watching the film are truly cruel. We have put our heart and soul in the film, and everyone is waiting for the release. Now we can just pray that it comes out soon. I believe the decision is in the right hands and I totally believe that the decision will be in our favor.” Further she added, “At the moment, I am just praying for the best to happen. I am just keeping my mind calm as much as possible. And yes, focusing my energies in the right direction, towards self-development.”

For the unversed, the actress, who hails from Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh was all set to make her acting debut with this film where she will be seen playing the lead role of Rukhsaar.

Legal case on the film

As reported by Live Law, a vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta imposed a stay on the film while listening to a plea challenging the Bombay High Court’s order permitting the release of the Annu Kapoor starrer. “Until disposal of the petition before the High Court, screening of the movie in question shall remain suspended”, the bench ordered after they found its teaser ‘objectionable’ and ‘offensive’ towards a certain community.

What is Hamare Baraah about?

Hamare Baarah aims to be a thought-provoking film that delves into the dark corners of societal norms and prejudices.
