EXCLUSIVE: “Halley’s Comet has returned in Shah Rukh Khan,” says Taran Adarsh; recalls Manmohan Desai’s remark about Amitabh Bachchan

Veteran film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh has said that Shah Rukh Khan is currently experiencing a phase that very few actors are fortunate to witness.

Adarsh made the comments in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, where he was discussing the recent success of Khan’s film Jawan. He said that the film had been met with a lot of excitement and anticipation and that it was clear that Khan was still a major draw for audiences.

Adarsh compared Khan to Amitabh Bachchan while recalling that Manmohan Desai had once compared Bachchan to “Halley’s Comet”. He said, “It appears once every 70 years. I believe that Halley’s Comet has returned in the form of Shah Rukh Khan.”

“I feel that the phase Shah Rukh Khan is experiencing is a phase that very few actors are fortunate to witness,” Adarsh said. “It’s truly a blessing to achieve this level of success, to witness this kind of achievement.” Adarsh also said that he was happy for Khan, who he said had faced a lot of challenges in recent years.

“I am genuinely happy for him because a person who has gone through a lot, let’s not dwell on that,” he said. “But he has faced many challenges, and today, even though I haven’t met him in years, I’m sure he must be wearing a big smile and feeling so content. Everyone is delighted because, you see, ultimately, a person’s happiness is the most important thing in life. Everything else takes a backseat in the face of happiness.”
