Dream Girl 2 Box Office: Ananya Panday scores her 2nd biggest opener

Four releases with one century, one half century, and another confirmed half century in the making – that’s the kind of run which Ananya Panday has been having at the box office ever since she made her big screen debut four years back. To have a 75% success rate would be any actress’ dream and though these are still early days, with not even 10 theatrical releases to her name so far, Ananya Panday has at least made a start at the movies.

Though she has been trolled incessantly over the years, the young actress has been moving ahead in her career and the start that Dream Girl 2 has taken is a welcome addition to that. Of course, she has a minimal role to play in the film, which is dominated by Ayushmann Khurrana. However, for someone who is just starting afresh in the industry, there is a foot in the door required and from that perspective, Ananya has delivered with Student Of The Year 2, Pati Patni Aur Woh and now Dream Girl 2. The only film of hers which hasn’t taken a start is Liger, which also flopped badly but the rest have been successes.

This is how the first day collections of Ananya Panday starrers look like:

Student of the Year 2 – Rs. 12.06 crores

Dream Girl 2 – Rs. 10.69 crores

Pati Patni aur Woh – Rs. 9.10 crores

Liger (Hindi) – Rs. 4.50 crores

Her Khaali Peeli had also seen a token release during pandemic before arriving on OTT while Gehraiyaan, which released straight to digital last year, was actually a good success for Amazon Prime. Meanwhile, Dream Girl 2 has been a good opener for Ananya and while it will certainly go past the lifetime score of Student Of The Year 2 (Rs. 69.11 crores), it has to be seen if it challenges even Pati Patni Aur Woh (Rs. 97 crores) to emerge as her highest grosser.
