Box Office: Yet another record day for Bollywood as Gadar 2 and OMG 2 register over Rs. 50 crores on Monday

It has been the fourth consecutive Rs. 50 crores+ day for Bollywood as between Gadar 2 and OMG 2, over Rs. 50 crores came in. The trend that started on Friday when both films gathered huge moolah spilling well into the first weekday as well with Gadar 2 dropping by less than 5% and OMG 2 actually increasing by almost 20%. Of course, both the films are playing at different quantum so what matters eventually is the total moolah that comes in, and that’s spectacular by all means.

Let’s talk about Gadar 2 first. The film is seeing a historic run for itself with Monday collections too coming to a massive Rs. 38.70 crores. Such kind of numbers on a regular working day are unheard of and hence one has to celebrate the craze which is spreading fast around the film. The momentum is on the film’s side and while today will of course be extraordinary due to Independence Day holiday, the record journey is not going to stop anytime soon even from tomorrow onwards. With Rs. 173.58 crores in its kitty already, the Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma film is now headed well towards Rs. 400 crores lifetime at least.

On the other hand, OMG 2 has seen a good increase in footfalls with Rs. 12.06 crores coming on Monday. Friday collections of the film were Rs. 10.26 crores so that’s a good jump that the Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam starrer has seen, and had it not been for the Gadar 2 juggernaut then one can’t even imagine how much bigger would the film have turned out to be already. Audiences have embraced this Amit Rai film in a big way, and it has already scored a half century in quick time. With Rs. 55.17 crores already in its kitty, the film should cross Rs. 75 crores today and then enter R.s 100 Crore Club on Friday.
