Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki is the first time that the celebrated filmmaker would be working with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time. They did try collaborating with each other in the past but things couldn’t move forward. But Dunki also boasts of an impressive supporting cast and one of them is Boman Irani. The veteran actor has worked with SRK before in films like Main Hoon Na, Don, Don 2 and Happy New Year.
In a recent interview with Sapna Vyas on her podcast as reported by Indian Express, Boman recalled his first meet with Khan during the shoot of Main Hoon Na, which the superstar had also produced under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment. He said, “He (Khan) had a method to make you feel at ease. When I met him for the first time in Darjeeling, when I was shooting for Main Hoon Na. He reached late at night and I had arrived a day early. Someone knocked on the door at night and I was in the Parsi sadra and pajama and the sadra was a bit torn and I opened the door and said, ‘Yes.’ Then he said ‘this is Shah Rukh.’ I said, ‘Hello sir, how are you?’”
In Boman’s words, SRK said, “I am the producer of this film. This is your room and that is my room. I am across. If you need anything just knock on my door. Thank you so much for doing our film.”
Boman, interestingly, has worked in all Rajkumar Hirani directorial ventures so far – from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S to his last outing Sanju.
Also starring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, Dunki will be releasing in theatres on December 21.
