Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 surpasses Singham Again in second weekend at Global Box Office; emerges as 6th highest weekend grosser

In an exciting turn of events at the global box office, the Anees Bazmee directorial starring Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Tripti Dimri and Madhuri Dixit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has overtaken Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again during its second weekend at the global box office. After initially trailing behind the Rohit Shetty directorial, Singham Again that featured a star-studded cast of Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff and Ranveer Singh in its opening weekend, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has now gained momentum, securing its position as the sixth-highest weekend grosser worldwide. With robust collections across multiple territories, the horror-comedy franchise has shown remarkable staying power in international markets.

On their opening weekend, the Rohit Shetty directorial Singham Again took the lead over Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, earning USD 22,265,741 (approximately Rs. 184 crore) across 20 territories, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 earned USD 20,382,603 (approximately Rs. 168 crore) across 18 territories. However, in its second weekend, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 surged ahead, drawing larger crowds and surpassing Singham Again by a narrow margin, with a total of USD 1,17,08,365 (around Rs. 97.4 crore) from 18 territories compared to Singham Again’s USD 1,16,84,731 (around Rs. 97.2 crore) from 20 territories. 

The appeal of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 lies in its combination of horror and comedy, which has resonated strongly with audiences worldwide. This instalment of the franchise has expanded on the original film’s fan base, with Kartik Aaryan’s performance adding to its widespread appeal. Positive word-of-mouth, especially in territories like the Middle East, North America, and the UK, has fuelled its second-weekend resurgence, attracting audiences looking for an entertaining mix of scares and laughs.

Meanwhile, Singham Again has also held its ground, reflecting the Singham franchise’s massive fan base and its appeal among action lovers. However, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s unique genre and Kartik Aaryan’s performance have managed to create a niche, helping it edge ahead in the second week. 

While Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has managed to surpass Singham Again, both Indian releases come in behind Hollywood giants like the Tom Hardy starrer Venom: The Last Dance that raked in USD 39,42,18,738 (approx. Rs. 328.2 crore), the Dwayne Johnson – Chris Evans starrer Red One that collected USD 2,66,00,000 (approx. Rs. 221.6 crore), Universal Films animated flick Wild Robot that after rave reviews garnered USD 1,56,41,000 (approx. Rs. 130.3 crore), the Hugh Grant horror thriller Heretic that drew in USD 1,26,33,155 (approx. INR 105.2 crore), and Paddington in Peru that collected USD 1,23,35,271 (approx. INR 102.7 crore).

The second weekend has brought a surprising reversal at the global box office, with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 pulling ahead of Singham Again to secure its position as the sixth-highest weekend grosser worldwide. This development not only marks a significant achievement for the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise but also reflects Kartik Aaryan’s rising popularity as a global star. As both films continue to perform well overseas, Bollywood’s reach and influence on the world stage are stronger than ever.
