Bad Newz Box Office: Film does well, scores 3rd highest Week 1 for Vicky Kaushal after Uri and Raazi

Finally, there is a film from Bollywood which has come and turned out to be a success at the box office. Of late, a number of movies had released but while a couple of them did bring in some collections, one waited for a good success to be scored. Then there were a couple of films which should actually have been successes but turned out to be commercial disappointments. However, Bad Newz has managed to salvage the industry to some extent if the first week collections are anything to go by.

The film has seen steady numbers right through the week after a good opening that saw Rs. 8.62 crores on Friday, followed by a jump in collections on Saturday (Rs. 10.55 crores) and then Sunday seeing a bit of a growth as well with Rs. 11.45 crores more coming in. Further to that, Monday to Wednesday stayed in that Rs. 3-4 crores zone throughout, though had these stayed over Rs. 4 crores right till Thursday, then it would have been even better. In fact, on Thursday the film connected Rs. 2.75 crores. However, even with such collections on the decent side, the overall figure is respectable and that’s what makes the first week emerge as one of the best of 2024 so far.

The film now stands at Rs. 44.12 crores and that’s good enough actually. Bad Newz has been made at a controlled budget by Dharma Productions and hence just from theatrical business itself, profits will start coming in. As for revenue from OTT, satellite, music and other rights, that would be an added bonus for the film. In fact, the film is now also the third highest first week ever for Vicky Kaushal as it’s just below Uri – The Surgical Strike and Raazi.
