Atlee dedicates Critics Best Director award to his Jawan team

In a momentous night at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards, South-Bollywood filmmaker Atlee emerged as a shining star, after he was honored with the prestigious award for his recent contribution to Indian cinema. The filmmaker received the ‘Critics Best Director’ award, for his storytelling prowess in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. One of the biggest blockbusters of the year, this action entertainer, which also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone in a special cameo, received several honors at this recently held awards. Apart from the filmmaker, the film also received awards for Best Actor and Actress, for music composer, among others.

While Atlee took to social media to share about the beautiful moment, he also shared an emotional acceptance speech. The filmmaker Atlee Kumar said, “Good Evening Everyone, Hello Everyone… Thanks to Tamil, my mother Tongue, to all my Tamil fans who have been supporting me and keeping me going. Now it’s become bigger, and I can collectively address them as my Indian Fans and I’m happy for that. First thanks to Mr Shah Rukh Khan sir who gave me a platform to prove myself here. Thanks to Mr Shah Rukh sir, the actors and the entire film, thanks for believing in my vision. Thank you Thalapthy Vijay sir who really took me from my second film to a level where I can come and prove myself. Thanks to Vijay sir.”

“My best friend is Anni, Ruben, Vishnu…. They are my best friends and who really put their heart and soul without any expectations. And I know they are superstars in my ground for my word, they came here. They did everything what they can do to their best limit and made this film and I dedicate this award to all my best friends, the entire team and Shahrukh Sir. Thank you so much. Thank you,” he concluded.

Speaking of Jawan, the film explores themes of love, sacrifice, and patriotism, along with an ensemble cast which included Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, among others and it released on September 7 in Hindi and Tamil.
