Ashutosh Gowariker meets Ramakant Kulkarni’s family ahead of Manvat Murders release: “Meeting the Kulkarnis was humbling”

Ashutosh Gowariker, known for films like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, and Swades, is set to appear in the web series Manvat Murders as an actor. He will portray the real-life character of DSP Ramakant Kulkarni in the series.

Ahead of the release of the show, Ashutosh Gowariker met the family of Ramakant Kulkarni. On the visit, Ashutosh met Ramakant’s wife, Mrs. Kulkarni, daughter Anita Bhogle, her husband, and legendary cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle. During the visit, he was accompanied by director of the show Ashish Bendre and writer Girish Joshi, and the veteran filmmaker talked elaboratively about the insights of DSP Ramakant Kulkarni’s life.

Ashutosh Gowariker shared his thoughts after meeting the family of Ramakant Kulkarni and said, “Meeting the Kulkarnis was humbling. Hearing about Ramakant ji’s warmth and love for his family; his gentlemanly attitude towards criminals; and his qualities of being a team leader gave me a deeper understanding of the man behind the uniform.”

He, saying concluded, “Armed with a new admiration for him, I approached his character. It was important for the entire Manvat Murders team to honor not just the officer, but the person and his family as well, through this show.”

The series Manvat Murders will be streaming on Sony LIV from October 4th, 2024.
