Animal: “When I was debuting with Sonam, Anil Kapoor told me that main kisi actor ka baap nahin banunga lekin tera baap banunga” – Ranbir Kapoor

Animal is all set to release on Friday, December 1 and the actors of the film – Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna – attended a press conference of the film at a multiplex in Mumbai hours before the premiere. Ranbir, at this event, remembered his father, late actor Rishi Kapoor, and also talked about Anil Kapoor, who plays his on-screen father in Animal.

Ranbir Kapoor said, “I think the relationship I shared with my father was like most of the father-son relationships in India. Thoda distance hota tha, thoda darr hota tha. But there was also a lot of love and respect. Animal is about a father-son relationship but it’s about an obsessed son. It is probably different from what I shared in real life. But somewhere, you have certain moments in your life which (help you) play such scenes.”

Ranbir Kapoor then revealed, “Also, it was amazing performing with Mr Anil Kapoor. He doesn’t look like my father; he looks like my younger brother! Long back, when I was debuting with his daughter Sonam (in Saawariya), he told me that ‘main kisi actor ka baap nahin banunga lekin jab tu film leke aayega, toh tera baap banunga! So, thank you Anil uncle for doing this!”

Ranbir Kapoor continued, “I see a lot of my father in him because they come from a similar generation. They have a similar thinking pattern. While performing with him, there were a lot of sweet memories that I could recall.”
