Animal Box Office: Ranbir Kapoor starrer has a ROARING Monday; collects Rs. 44.47 cr on Day 4

Ranbir Kapoor has a BLOCKBUSTER in hand. Animal was always expected to open well and then a hit tag was on the cards as well. However, for this expensive film to emerge as a blockbuster, something really special was required to be delivered by writer-director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. This indeed turned out to be the case when the first show reports were out, and the common verdict was that this was one was an action thriller drama with a difference. The numbers that followed right through the weekend were simply monumental.

However, as is the case with such movies that meet with excellent response from the audiences but don’t quite find a favour with (out of ground reality touch) critics, there is always this ‘Monday factor’ that’s looked at rather closely. Exhibitors are sure that the film will do well in their properties, especially since audiences sentiments are well captured over the weekend gone by. On the other hand, the detractors expect (and hope) for the film to fail. They just want to believe that a particular film was just a weekend show and then a crash is imminent.

Well, all such wishful thinking on their part has been quashed, and that too in a very big way, what with Monday turnout out to be truly ROARING. The film has collected as huge as Rs. 44.47 crores and this is simply phenomenal as several biggies have struggled to score as much on their entire weekend. However here, Animal is scoring really huge and the drop from Friday [Rs. 63.80 crores] is also very minimal. As a result, the film has already reached Rs. 246.23 crores which is simply a smash score and now it’ guaranteed to enter Rs. 300 Crore Club this week itself.
