After renowned filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma and Anurag Kashyap, musician Adnan Sami has extended his support to Animal. For the unversed, Ranbir Kapoor’s latest release has left the netizens divided as it has garnered a polarising review. On Monday, Adnan Sami took to his Instagram handle and defended the film in a lengthy note.
“Can people pls stop over analysing, over thinking & over ‘moral-policing’ films? ITS-JUST-A-FILM!!! It’s a fantasy… It’s entertainment!! If you’re looking for logic then also tell me the logic behind the illogical blood donation scene that featured in Amar Akbar Anthony,” read an excerpt of the veteran musician.
He further asked to “explain the morality shown in Deewaar or the logic behind Thakur beating the crap out of Gabbar in the climax of Sholay with just his feet & no hands.” In addition to this, he also cited The Godfather as an example.
While stating that Animal has got an A-rating, Sami wrote, “An ‘adult’ is mature & educated enough to understand between what is right & wrong morally.” While admitting that he hasn’t watched Animal as of now, Sami asserted that he “will always defend the right of a creative artist to express what they want to in any form of ‘art’.”
He went on to mention the concept of “co-exist along with a ‘live & let live’ policy,” and urged the audience to not “force opinions on others, especially when those people are presenting a fantasy. He concluded the note by saying, “ITS-JUST-A-FILM.”

Speaking of Animal, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, it was released on December 1. Along with Kapoor, it also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. It is currently running in theatres.
