Aditya Datt on making Gulshan Devaiah perform action in Bad Cop: “He has never done action in any of his projects earlier but completely surrendered himself”

Disney+ Hotstar recently dropped a new drama, Bad Cop. Produced by Fremantle India, directed by Aditya Datt and written by Rensil D’Silva the series is a complete mass entertainer, now streaming exclusively on the platform. Bad Cop has been reimagined for India by Fremantle India from RTL’s original German drama of the same name.

Being a part of an action thriller is definitely on the list for many actors in the industry, but performing actions can be a risky affair for the entire unit and has to be performed under expert supervision. Aditya Datt believes in minutely creating each scene with his stunt team and crafting every action sequence to perfection keeping in mind the safety of his artists and the authenticity of the character. Here is what he has to say on creating this action thriller

Talking about the same, director Aditya Datt said, “If one sees the action in Bad Cop, the audiences will experience something completely cinematic. My stunts team and I have designed it the way we would shoot an action film and one can tell by the moves and the gigs in the show. I usually write my action scenes keeping in mind the ability of the actor, safety of the cast and the realism of the character and then discuss with the stunt coordinators on the execution bit. One of the most challenging things for me was getting Gulshan to do action, because he has never done action in any of his projects earlier but he had completely surrendered himself and gave his best performance in every action shot.”
