Adhyayan Suman says validation from Sanjay Leela Bhansali “is bigger than an Oscar”; speaks on playing Zorawar in Heeramandi

After his stint in Aashram, Adhyayan Suman lands a role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming series Heeramandi. Here, he plays Zorawar, a powerful and complex prince. The show promises a world of intrigue and passion, and fans are excited to see Adhyayan’s transformation from a charming character to this captivating new role.

Speaking of his collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the latter’s vision, Adhyayan says, “First and foremost, I am absolutely indebted to Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali for giving me one of the most powerful characters of ‘Heeramandi.’ At a juncture in my career where prospects seemed dim, his decision to cast me reaffirms the belief that perseverance pays off. Sir’s validation for me is bigger than an Oscar. Zorawar, a figure brimming with power, embodies selfishness and arrogance, making his portrayal a multifaceted challenge.”

Sharing further about playing two roles in the show, the actor asserts, “My role extends beyond Zorawar, as I am also portraying the younger version of my father’s character, Zulfikar, which feels surreal. My ultimate hope is to connect with audiences worldwide and leave a lasting impression.”

Speaking of the series, it will start streaming on Netflix from May 1 onwards. Besides father-son duo Adhyayan and Shekhar Suman, the series also stars Fardeen Khan and Taha Shah Badussh. The show will be led by Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal.

The official synopsis of the show, on Netflix, read, “The scheming Mallikajaan rules over an elite house of courtesans — but a new rival threatens her reign as rebellion brews in British-ruled India.”
