90 Day Fiance: Nick Ham Bashes American Culture?

Nick Ham from 90 Day Fiance has some harsh comments about American culture. He claims to think differently. But his remarks about Devin Hoofman‘s weight say otherwise.

90 Day Fiance: Nick Ham Fears Living in Devin Hoofman’s Hometown

Nick Ham arrives in Searcy, Arkansas, with Devin Hoofman. They have three months to wed or risk their fiance visa expiring. He would then have to return back to South Korea. He admits to being nervous about moving to America. The TLC star doesn’t know much about her hometown. But he knows that there isn’t much diversity and no Korean community.

Devin has also told the 90 Day Fiance cast member that there is a lot of racism. He admits he saw a lot of racism in the countryside of Australia. So, it scares him to move to a place where he could face a lot of hate. He also thinks that it has worsened since the global pandemic.

Nick Calls American Culture Greasy and Fat

Devin’s family throws Nick a welcome-to-America dinner with some friends. They make their own fried fish and French fries.

One of the 90 Day Fiance castmate’s family friend asks Nick what South Korean people think of Americans. He says, “Greasy food.” He adds, “And being fat.” However, he tells everyone that he doesn’t think that way. But he explains that people in South Korea believe that way.

However, Devin believes that he does think that way. She explains that unhealthy food “is much cheaper than healthy” in America.

Yet, her father, Kevin, thinks that some people are “just lazy.” He explains that some people feel going through a drive-thru is easier than buying something to cook.

Devin asks Nick what he thinks about getting fast food. He tells her that she’s lazy since she always gets fast food for lunch. The TLC star adds, “No wonder you are a piggy.” He then touches her stomach and says, “Look at this.” He says, “I’m just saying the truth.”

90 Day Fiance Celeb’s Comments Gets Fans Upset

Nick Ham stating that American culture is greasy food and fat people doesn’t sit well with viewers. One person feels he doesn’t “respect the cultural norms of the person he’s chosen to marry.” Another person says there isn’t a country that “doesn’t have a tier of unhealthy food.” A person also believes that “many countries have access to heavily processed food,” not just America.

However, some 90 Day Fiance fans also don’t like that he continues to point out Devin’s weight. One person thinks that she “is not fat.” Another person doesn’t like that he calls her Piggy even though she has told him she doesn’t like it. However, a person explains that Koreans have “pretty rigid beauty standards, and women are pushed to be skinny.”

Devin admits that being called Piggy is an ongoing battle she has chosen to give up on. However, will living in America change Nick’s opinions on Americans and stop calling his soon-to-be wife a pig?
